A comprehensive Skill Development training program on "Protected Cultivation and Precision Farming in Horticulture Crops" was conducted for the rural youths of Tsiesema Village, situated under Kohima District, Nagaland organized by KVK, Kohima. The training aimed to create sustainable self-employment opportunities, bridge the technical gap in modern farming, shift traditional youth sub-sectors away from dependency on traditional jhum practices into high-yielding and climate -smart entrepreneurship.
The primary objectives of the training included:
*Empowering rural youth: Transforming local youth into skilled agricultural entrepreneurs to check rural to urban migration.
*Resource maximization: Introducing methods that save water, cut input cost, and optimize land usage.
*Off-season production: Equipping youths to grow high- value crops like king Chilli, capsicum, tomato and Dutch roses year-round.
